FIRST ANNUAL “AGASTOCK” BENEFIT CONCERT
Sunday, July 27th The Grand Ole Echo and The Echo in conjunction with Melissa Monroe present “Agastock” – A benefit dedicated to the memory of Alice M. Ferguson. Special thanks to Bedrock-LA studios for lending equipment.
All proceeds will be going to Southern California Counseling Center's Trauma Training Program. This program trains counselors in EMDR* and other trauma therapies at no cost, thus making these types of therapies more readily available to the community.
On August 6th, 2013 Melissa Monroe tragically lost her youngest daughter, Alice Ferguson (age 2) to SUDC (Sudden Unexplained Death in Children). Monroe credits EMDR therapy to be instrumental in getting her back on track after the death of Alice and is honored to be able to give back to an organization that has been instrumental in helping her deal with her grief.

* Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is recognized as an effective form of trauma treatment and is a comprehensive, integrative psychotherapy approach. It contains elements of many effective psychotherapies in structured protocols that are designed to maximize treatment effects. These include psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, experiential, and body-centered therapies.
Southern California Counseling Center is an important resource for the Los Angeles community. Their sliding fee counseling and outreach services are directed to that segment of the community who otherwise would not have access to services.
