On August 6th, 2013 Melissa Monroe tragically lost her youngest daughter, Alice Ferguson (age 2) to SUDC (Sudden Unexplained Death in Children).  Monroe credits EMDR therapy to be instrumental in getting her back on track after the death of Alice and is honored to be able to give back to an organization that has been instrumental in helping her deal with her grief.
* Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is recognized as an effective form of trauma treatment and is a comprehensive, integrative psychotherapy approach. It contains elements of many effective psychotherapies in structured protocols that are designed to maximize treatment effects. These include psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, experiential, and body-centered therapies.

Southern California Counseling Center is the only sliding-scale mental health facility in California that offers EMDR therapy. SCCC is an important resource for the Los Angeles community. Their counseling and outreach services are directed to that segment of the community who otherwise would not have access to services.
