ABOUT THE GOOD LEAVE

"Well, here goes-

The Good Leave is the latest record by me, Kip Boardman, recorded and produced by my good friend Danny Mcgough (Continental Drifters, Shivaree, Social Distortion, Vic Hazlenut And His Orchestra, The Magnet Hearts). We did everything in his fabulous converted garage studio, with a bewildering assortment (to me) of things to make sounds with. We got to listen back to everything through Altec monitors (hello, Beatles, Abbey Road!). We shared the playings of all guitars, vocals, keys, and extraneous sounds, and got some more proficient help for drums (Steve Mugalian), horns (Jon Wahl), pedal steel (Eric Heywood, Chris Lawrence), and bongos (Nick Vincent). The songs are mostly ones I’d been working on with a band that fell apart (Chaparral, thanks Sean and Steve!). Mastering by the inestimable Paul duGre. Available now on Ridisculous Records at bandcamp.com. Don’t miss out, have fun, and be good neighbors!"

ABOUT KIP BOARDMAN:

Raised in the northeast on a healthy diet of Jimmy Webb and Rolling Stones, and drawn by the warm California sun, Kip Boardman began messing with the piano when he was five or so, and much to everyone’s chagrin and disappointment, never really let it go. A longtime bass player with many angeleno stalwarts, Kip has lately turned to the lonely art of songwriting and the more complementary piano and guitar. Mostly preoccupied with dusty and obsolete forms of country, folk and pop, Kip has released two previous solo albums, 2003’s Upon The Stars on Ridisculous Records and 2005’s Hello I Must Be… on Mesmer Records.
