KG Music Press
About Us

KG Music Press was formed in January 2009 by Kim Grant and Justin Smith.

Besides being a music publicist, Kim Grant also works alongside Liz Garo and Julie Richmond as a music curator and host for the Los Angeles, free weekly roots music series, The Grand Ole Echo held at the Echo nightclub. The three also have curated a mini-American-roots music festival for 2 years in a row called, Roots Roadhouse.  Prior to KG Music Press, Kim worked as an event planner in Chicago and in Los Angeles she was the Assistant to Ilka Errin Paradinas, owner of Fly PR.  While working alongside Ilka, she cut her teeth promoting projects with The Unknown Instructors (Mike Watt, Raymond Pettibone, et al), Trey Gunn (of King Crimson fame), Pere Ubu and David Thomas’ Hearpen Label, Tim Skold and KMFDM, The Pagans, Thor & Blacklist Union.  Her love of American roots music and the music community is what helps her as an advocate for the Southern California roots music scene and the Americana music scene as a whole.

Justin Smith is a drummer and member of the band, Old Californio.  He has also played in the bands, Raoul, The Seeds and has made guest appearances with many
Los Angeles bands.
